Week 5 at GemMine and we have been given our first Milestone Project to work on. Two of the milestone projects are to write medium articles. Here is the first one and we’re to talk about our experience so far in tracking our progress. I am actually glad about this as it will help me talk about my progress, whether I’ve been faithful to tracking my progress or not.

Leggoo 🧐

Since after the session on progress tracking, things definitely changed. I’ve been more productive. I got myself a book where I write down tasks and goals I want to achieve for a particular day, this went on for some weeks but I couldn’t keep up much because of school work and other activities I carry out daily. Mheeeennnn, it was and is still a lot of stress with school. During the lockdown last year, I was able to achieve a lot, I had quite a lot of time to improve on myself and acquire a skill but now that school is in the picture, omo, we sha dey run am (trying to keep up).

After the session on progress tracking, I wrote down things I planned to achieve daily and I made sure I completed them but after some weeks of doing this and having lectures as early as 7am and finishing by 7pm, I couldn’t write down tasks everyday. When I’m free, I make sure to write something down no matter how small it is just so to know that yeah, I achieved this thing today.

As for the accountability partner, I haven’t been too faithful with this, lol. My friend that I talk to about the things I do started her IT and basically everyone is busy. That’s no excuse though, we still talk about things I do once in a while but not as much.

In the article I wrote on Progress Tracking, I made mention of one point I love so much and that is Mindful Work. Putting your mind to whatever you’re doing and not allowing any distractions to come in. Being mindful of the stuff I do and making sure I focus helps me assimilate better and complete those stuffs faster. I also apply mindful work during lectures and I must tell you, it works. Just put all your focus on the lecturer and silence every other thing around you. That way you do not miss important information from your lecturer.

I actually feel and know that mindful work can be applied to anything, anything at all. Yes, you can do it in different ways. For example, before I started writing this article, I created a playlist of songs I like, put in my earpiece, played my songs, started grooving and began to write 😎. Yours could be different, the songs could be a distraction to you, and to others might be different. The koko (main thing) is that you’re focused and mindful in that work you’re doing.

I really do plan to improve in tracking my progress because again I tell you, it helps. I just need to know how i’d manage my time and hopefully I will be writing an article on Time management sooner or later, I sha know say I go write am.

You can check out my article on progress tracking here.

Here’s what my experience on tracking my progress has been like so far. I would love to know what your experience has been like also.
